Bird Netting

We can supply the required materials or fully design and install the systems and we operate a nationwide service.

Bird netting is our most requested product for protecting structures against birds. When installed correctly it is 100% successful in keeping the selected pest birds away. We fully design and install bird netting systems using our own fully trained and experienced staff or we can supply the net and fittings direct for self installation.

We can provide quotes for individual jobs either from site plans and specifications or we can carry out site surveys. Our in house NEBOSH accredited safety personnel can provide the relevant risk assessments and method statements and all our staff are IPAF trained.

Premier nets are;

                        - suitable for most structures
                        - virtually invisible when correctly installed                           and tensioned
                        - totally weatherproof, U.V. stabilised and                           chemically inert
                        - can be used for small ledges to complete                           roofs and facades

In the picture opposite the netting was installed to protect air handling units and the heaters below from pigeons which had started to roost there in less than 3 weeks from the installation of the units. The work was a carried out for 'Virgin' at the rooftop 'Babylon' restaurant in Kensington. It consisted of a series of vertical and horizontal nets with net clips to allow access to unprotected areas of the rooftop.

All Premier nets are manufactured from polyethylene,
they don't absorb water and so will not rot or stretch.
They are virtually unaffected by extremes of temperature
and have outstanding electrical insulating properties.

The nets are available in black, stone or translucent,
the black being the best at resisting U.V. light, flame
retardant netting is also available. Access behind
the nets is achieved by installing net zips or clips and
our 'bird scape' product is used as a one way escape
r
oute for any trapped birds.

Bird Netting Principles

The idea of bird netting is to provide an impenetrable barrier to the pest bird species, causing no harm to the birds displacing the population to other areas. This is achieved by first choosing the correct size of netting for the type of pest bird. A tensioned wire, either galvanised or stainless steel, is then installed around the periphery of the structure, with any additional cross wires being installed. The net is then fastened to the wires using hog rings.

It all sounds quite simple but the installation of bird netting is considered to be a professional task and D.I.Y. installation should be carefully thought out as a single mistake can make the difference between success and failure of the system, and if access equipment is needed to carry out the work then first time success is needed to be cost effective.

The picture opposite shows the 50mm pigeon netting, straining wires, hog rings and barrel strainer that is used to tension the perimeter wires.

Examples of some of our netting installations

This shows sparrow netting installed below a canopy for Tesco stores, York. The loading bay is used by the home delivery vehicles where sparrows had taken up residence.

Access clips were installed around the lights to allow for future maintenance.

Total installation time 1 man - 1 day

Translucent 19mm sparrow net was used to protect open atrium sides at Blackburn college.

Norton Water Tower, Runcorn

Sparrow netting was installed on the open arches to stop any birds from entering the tower area.

Access was by a 26mtr boom.

Installation time 1 man - 3 days

Pigeon net and our Bird wire system was used to protect the air handling systems at the rooftop restaurant in Kensington, London.

Installation time 2 men - 2 days
